It took several decades, but eventually I comprehended the following personal truth:
I thoroughly enjoy learning, but I absolutely despise being taught.
Just today I ran across the following relevant quote:
I am always ready to learn, but I do not always like being taught.

I'm not sure what to think of the fact that I've taken a more extreme position than Churchill.
